There is a wide array of Christmas musical instruments used by singers and musicians to produce the most soulful melodies to harmonize the mood of the occasion of Christmas. One such instrument was the Regal Reeds which is a small late-medieval portable organ, equipped with beating reeds and two bellows resembling a positive organ. In Germany the Regal Reeds was also referred to as reed stops or the vox humana stop. Earlier the name Regal Reed was not used for the small table instrument but for the small brass pipes in the organ, sounded by means of beating reeds. |
Regal Reeds as a Christmas musical instrument was widely used at various Christmas celebrations for musical performances. At Church choirs too, the Regal Reed was widely used. The Regal Reed organ dates back to the year 14th or 15th century. It was a musical instrument with foot-operated bellows offering wind pressure to vibrate the reeds whose access was controlled by a keyboard. There are variations of Regal Reed which had several Greek-derived trade names, of which the harmonium is the most prominent. The Regal Reed musical instruments were apparently first made in Nuremberg and Augsburg and had a harsh unpleasant tome at the time of its creation.
In addition to Regal Reeds there is whole range of other musical instruments which are used by contemporary musical bands. Some of these include trumpets, tabor, pipes, harp, Brass Band, Psaltery and more. There are also plenty of contemporary musical instruments such as Guitar, Piano, Saxophone, Cymbals, Flute, Bongo, Harmonica, Mandolin, Cello, Clarinet, Banjo, Cornet, Gongs and many more. These instruments are used by many musicians to create some of the most popular Christmas music which is played on this grand occasion.
